The tag Emerging Entrepreneur has a nice tone to it and I am thankful to CII, Southern Region for recognizing me as one of the Emerging Entrepreneurs in 2016. The start- up world today is filled with young, energetic entrepreneurs. At the age of 50+, it feels good to be included in this club.
The awards ceremony took place in a room filled with well-seasoned entrepreneurs, most of them also first generation entrepreneurs who have now extensively grown their businesses. It was with awe that I listened to Mohan Reddy, Executive Chairman Cyient, as he talked about his journey and the C.PPT formula that helped him become a successful entrepreneur. To focus on People, Process and Tools, with the customer at the center was his advice to all of us emerging entrepreneurs.
It was also good to have a sportsperson as chief guest at the awards ceremony. Mr Gopichand is well known as a Badminton champion and coach . He also runs an academy in Hyderabad today. He shared his journey wherein he also transitioned from a player to coach and finally to entrepreneur. The awards night also hosted a panel discussion. It was encouraging to hear Mr Vikram Kiroskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd speak on his current biggest challenge in the automobile industry. He elaborated that meeting environmental standards is today their biggest challenge. “We are however committed to do whatever it takes to keep the carbon out and ensure we do not contribute to climate change.”
Personally this recognition brings immense satisfaction. The innovative business model of Saahas Zero Waste believes in a circular economy where Nature, People and Technology are used to recover resources and put it back into use. CII recognition for this decentralized business model gives me confidence that Saahas Zero Waste will soon be integrated as a main-steam solution that is implemented across the country.
